Before following the below-mentioned instructions, make sure set up IMAP and change your SMTP settings for allowing Gmail to be accessible in other email clients. Here are the steps to set up IMAP in your Gmail account.

SET UP IMAP

1.) Sign into your Gmail account on your computer.

2.) Click on the Settings option (under Gear icon) located on the top-right corner of your screen.

3.) Under the Settings window, you will need to click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

4.) Next, you will need to select Enable IMAP option under the IMAP Access section.

5.) After that, simply click on the Save Changes option to save the changes you made to the Settings of your Gmail account.

1.) Open Mozilla Thunderbird and go to the File > New > Existing Mail Account. A “Mail Account Setup” dialog will appear on your screen.
