Tumblr is one of the most popular microblogging and social networking websites. Steps to Add Music to Tumblr Account
1.) On your computer, open a web browser and sign in to your Tumblr account.
2.) Once the dashboard of your Tumblr account gets opened on your computer screen, click on the Audio option on your dashboard. This will give your three options to locate the music you wish to post on your blog.
OPTION 1: Search Option
3.) In the first option, you will get the option to search for the music. For this, you will need to enter the name of the song in the Search bar. In order to provide some of the music free for blogging use, Tumblr has partnered with SoundCloud and Spotify. You can easily search for a song by either typing its name or the name of the artist in the Search bar. From the search result that appears on your screen, select the music file which you wish to add.
OPTION 2: Adding a URL
4.) In this option, you will need to click on the “Use a URL” link. In case you have the SoundCloud or Spotify URL for a particular music or song, simply click on the “Use a URL” link located below the search bar and then enter it in the URL.
5.) When you will enter the URL of the song, the song will be pulled by Tumblr or be featured on your blog, however, it won’t be hosted on the servers of Tumblr. This means that, if the servers of SoundCloud or Spotify are down, the song will not play.
Option 3: Upload the Song
1.) In this option, you will need to download a .mp3 file of the song you wish to add to your blog. However, make sure that the song file is not locked or password protected.
2.) Next, you will need to click on the “Upload a file” link located underneath the search bar.
3.) Then, locate and select the .mp3 file from your computer.
NOTE: As this file will be hosted on the server of Tumblr, make sure to select the checkbox next to Tumblr’s Terms of Use for confirming that you have permission to use this file.
4.) If there is no album cover art with your audio file, you can upload the same separately. For this, go back to the dashboard of your blog and click on the “edit” option on the audio post. Then, click on the box next to “Select album art” option to locate and select a .jpg or .png file on your computer.
NOTE: Make sure the album art is not copyright protected.
