Tumblr is a well-known microblogging and social networking site that allows a user to create a blog, put stories, photos, TV shows, links, GIFs, quips, jokes, Spotify tracks, mp3s, videos, art, fashion and a lot more stuff. If you are new to the Tumblr and don’t know how to tag someone, you can follow the information in this guide. Here you will be guided with step-by-step instructions to tag other users to the post you create or reblog.

Steps to Tag Someone on Tumblr

NOTE: You can tag other Tumblr users easily either via the web or using the official mobile application.

1.) Sign into your Tumblr account and create a new post in which you wish to tag others. You can create a post with text, photo, quote, link, audio, video or chat and can tag the user wherever you type text. Also, if you want you can click or tap on the reblog button on another user’s post to re-post it to your own account.

2.) Next, you will need to tap or click inside the text box in the post editor. This can be anything from the body text of your post, caption of a photo post or the comment area of the post you are reblogging.

3.) Now, to tag the person, type “@” symbol without quotation followed by the initial letters of the username of the Tumblr user you wish to tag. Tumblr will automatically provide the list of the users with the same usernames as you type.

4.) Once you see the user you wish to tag in the auto-suggestion list, tap or click on the name of the username whom you wish to tag. This way the username will be added to the post with the “@” icon just ahead of the item you are tagging.

NOTE: The tagged item will also be underlined to make it different from the rest of the content as a clickable hyperlink.

5.) Similarly, you can tag other users as well in the content as per your preference. Once you are done tagging the users, simply complete the content and then post, reblog, schedule, or queue it up as per your requirement.

6.) Once you have posted the content, you can view the tagged users in the post by going to the Tumblr Dashboard or on your blog URL (yourusername.Tumblr.com). In the dashboard, you will just need to hover the mouse cursor over the tag to preview the tagged user’s blog. If you click on the tagged item, you will be shown the bigger preview of the tagged person’s blog.

NOTE: Clicking on the tag in the web will automatically direct you to the user’s Tumblr blog. Also, tagging someone on Tumblr in your post will notify the tagged person in their account. This helps in ensuring that the tagged person checks the post added by you. Similarly, you will also receive a notification if anyone tags you to their post in Tumblr.
