Residential Communications Network, also known as RCN, is the first American facilities-based provider of bundled cable, telephone, television, and internet service delivered through its own fiber-optic local network and also as DSL and dialup internet service to consumers. Along with the service, the company is also known for offering a free RCN email account to consumers. If you have recently received your RCN email account, apart from the web portal, you can also access this email account through different email programs. However, to access your RCN email account through such email applications, you will need to have the RCN email service settings. RCN.Com Email Account Configuration using RCN Email Server Settings

For Android

  1. Firstly, you will need to select the Mail icon from your applications screen and enter your email address and password. Next, select the Manual Setup option.
  2. Next, you will need to select the POP option. In case you have selected the POP option, you will need to ensure that your screen matched the following settings. Then, press the Next button.
  3. POP Server: pop.rcn.com
  4. Security type is None
  5. Port is 110 for POP
  6. Secure -Port: 993and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
  7. Insecure – Port: 110 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
  8. You will then need to enter the following outgoing SMTP Settings on your screen and press the Next option.
  9. SMTP Server: smtp.rcn.com
  10. Security type: None
  11. Port: 25 for outgoing SMTP. Following are the general SMTP port settings
    • Outgoing (SMTP) Secure – Port: 465 for and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Secure – Port: 587 and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Outgoing (SMTP) – Port: 25 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
    • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Insecure – Port: 587 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
  12. After that, you will need to select the Done button.
  13. Your RCN Email account is configured on your Android device with the RCN Email Server Settings.

For Apple iPhone

  1. To begin with, you will first need to select the Settings app icon from your home screen and tap on the Mail option.
  2. Next, you will need to select the Accounts option and then tap on the Add Account option.
  3. Then, you will need to select the Other option from the menu that appears on your screen.
  4. Now, you will need to select the Add Mail Account option and enter your Name, Email & Password in the prompted fields. Then, press the Next button.
  5. Then, you will need to scroll down to the Incoming Mail Server and enter all the relevant details. Similarly, enter the information for the Outgoing Mail Server using the email server settings mentioned above.

NOTE: Make sure that User Name is entered as your completed email address. Also, remember that User Name&Password are the same for both Incoming & Outgoing servers.

  • If you are prompted to verify the incoming and outgoing servers – press the continue option for each or select the “Details” option and then select the “Trust” option.
  • After that, select the Save option and select the new account that you’ve just created.
  • Now, you will need to select the SMTP server option and enter the required information using the RCN.Com email server settings provided above. After that, you will need to check the SMTP settings and press the Done option.
