Set Up Your EarthLink Email Account Using EarthLink Email Settings

EarthLink recently announced that its IMAP email service is now available to all customers of EarthLink email service. If you are also an EarthLink email user, you can easily access your EarthLink email account on an email program such as Microsoft Outlook, Android, iPhone, and many other applications. However, to access your EarthLink email account using an email application, you will need to have the EarthLink email settings. EarthLink IMAP Settings for Account Configuration

EarthLink with ix.netcom.com customers will need to use the following IMAP settings:

  • Incoming Mail Server:  imap.earthlink.net
  • Incoming Port Number: 143
  • Outgoing Mail Server:smtpauth.earthlink.net
  • Outgoing Port Number: 587

Customers using MindSpring Domain will need to use the following IMAP settings:

Note:  The EarthLink settings will also work for MindSpring domain names.

  • Incoming Mail Server:  imap.mindspring.com
  • Incoming Port Number: 143
  • Outgoing Mail Server:smtpauth.earthlink.net
  • Outgoing Port Number: 587

If you are a People PC user, you will need to use the following IMAP settings

  • Incoming Mail Server: imap.peoplepc.com
  • Incoming Port Number: 143
  • Outgoing Mail Server:smtpauth.peoplepc.com
  • Outgoing Port Number: 587

Setting Up EarthLink Email Account on Microsoft Outlook

  1. To begin with, you will first need to launch the Outlook email program on your computer and click on the File option located on the top-left corner. From the drop-down menu that appears on your screen, you will need to click on the Account Settings option. You will be directed to the Account Settings section.
  2. Once you are in the Account Settings section, you will need to select the Account Settings from the Drop Down Menu. You will be directed to the next screen.
  3. On the next screen, you will need to click on the New button under the Email tab.
  4. Next, you will need to select the E-Mail Account and click on the Next button. You will be directed to the next screen.
  5. On the next screen, you will need to select the Manual Setup or additional server types option (radio button) and click on the Next button.
  6. Next, you will need to select the POP or IMAP option, click on the Next button, and then enter the following information on the left-hand side using your email address and server settings.

NOTE: Make sure that you select the checkbox next to the Remember Password option if you wish to make the email program to remember your email account password.

User Information

  • Your Name: Enter your desired name
  • Email Address: Enter your email account address

Server Information

  • Account Type: IMAP
  • Incoming mail server: imap.earthlink.net
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtpauth.earthlink.net

Logon Information

  • User Name: Your EarthLink email address
  • Password: Enter your EarthLink email account password
  • After you have entered the above-mentioned information in the relevant fields on your screen, you will need to click on the More Settings button located near the bottom right corner.
  • Then, you will need to select the Outgoing Server tab and select the checkbox next to the following options:
  • My Outgoing Server requires Authentication
  • Use the same settings as my incoming mail server
  • Now you will need to click on the Advanced tab and enter the “Outgoing Port” value as 587.

NOTE:  If you are looking to use TLS security for your Incoming connections (optional), you will need to change the “Use the following type of encrypted connection” option to NONE in the Incoming.  Leave the Outgoing option.

  1. After that, you will need to click the OK>Next button. Doing so will make Outlook test your settings? When the testing process gets completed, click on the Close button. Finally, you will need to click on the Finish button to exit from the window and then select the Close button exit from the Email Accounts window.

You can now use your EarthLink email account using your Microsoft Outlook email program.
